Resilience Finance Lab Launch (Invitation Only)

Developed by the University of Miami Climate Resilience Institute in partnership with the Knight Foundation and with input from JPMorganChase, the Resilience Finance Lab will bring together leaders from academia, government, philanthropy, finance, and the private sector to advance innovative solutions for financing resilience.
The launch will introduce the vision and goals of the Resilience Finance Lab, demonstrate its potential to accelerate resilience solutions and engage participants in an interactive session to identify opportunities for collaboration and lasting impact.

Absorb, Adapt, Thrive: Nature-Based Infrastructure for Coastal Resilience

The University of Miami's Climate Resilience Institute and Center for Urban and Community Design will be hosting a day-long symposium of public sessions around nature-based resilience infrastructure at the newly opened Wagner Park Pavilion in Battery Park City, Lower Manhattan

Sessions will include an interactive conversation among researchers and adaptation professionals about adaptation strategies, a presentation about the role of nature-based infrastructure in building community resilience in Houston, Miami, and New York, and a panel discussion about how to scale nature-based solutions. 
A cocktail reception and tour of the Battery Park City Authority coastal defense will start at 4pm

Gowanus Canal Walking Tour

September 23, 2026

Tom Klein, at the University of Miami Center for Urban and Community Design, and Jen Posner, Director at the University of Miami Climate Resilience Institute, will join urban planners, designers, and community stakeholders to lead a walking tour of the Gowanus Canal, a formerly polluted industrial channel that has been transformed in the last decade by land use changes encouraging mixed use development and a publicly accessible waterfront esplanade.
